The second season of The Last of Us might be a long ways away

We might wait a while to hear more from HBO. The last of us. HBO announced in January that a second season of the excellent adaptation was under constructionand on Thursday, HBO and Max chief content officer Casey Bloys said the season would go into production in early 2024, according to Variety.
Bloys said production was delayed due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes (the latter of which it still continues). The series was also not on HBO’s slate for 2024, Variety said, which means it might not be released until 2025 at the earliest.
That said, some preparation has already been made for the new season. “We’ve outlined the entirety of Season 2 and we’re ready to start as soon as the strike ends,” the show’s co-creator said. Neil Druckmann said Weekly Entertainment in an interview published in September. And showrunner Craig Mazin separately said Weekly Entertainment that he submitted a script for the season premiere just before the WGA strike began.
Bloys revealed a few other details about HBO’s content lineup on Thursday. Dragon Housethe second season of will be released in “early summer” 2024, Variety reports, and a trailer for the season was shown to journalists at the event. And the third season of The White Lotus And He spin off Welcome to Derry are now planned for 2025, according to Deadline.
Bloys also responded to rolling stoneWednesday’s report which detailed how a staff member was asked to troll online reviews on X, formerly Twitter. “Now when I disagree with something in a review or with something I see, I send a message to many of you and many of you are kind enough to engage with me,” Deadline reports. This is “probably a much healthier way to go.”
