Tattoo healing and features of the procedure

What is it? Tattoo healing is a long and difficult process. And it happens differently for everyone at different times. And although this technique is considered less traumatic in the beauty industry, some complications may still arise.

How is it happening? To speed up this process, you should follow all the recommendations that the master voiced. In general, the stages of healing of tattooing of the eyelids, lips, and eyebrows proceed according to the same scenarios and differ little from each other.

What is a tattoo

Tattooing is the introduction of pigment with paint into the upper layers of the skin using a special apparatus. Thus, no external factors can affect these lines, and the color remains for quite a long time. The work is performed by a special machine that draws contours at a slight angle.

Pros of a tattoo:

  • scars on the skin become invisible;
  • facial features are given symmetry;
  • thanks to the processing around the perimeter, the eyebrows or lips acquire a beautiful shape;
  • Rich color without voids.

There are several methods of tattooing. Our salon experts will help you find the right one for you.

In this article, we will analyze in detail how to speed up the healing of a tattoo and give tips and recommendations.

Eyebrow tattoo healing by day

How does eyebrow healing go after tattooing?

They usually fully recover within a month. Puffiness and redness disappear in the first few days. Everyone’s recovery period lasts differently due to the characteristics of the body and age.

Consider the main stages of this process:

  • First day. After the procedure, ichor will appear on the eyebrows. We get rid of it with a cotton swab dipped in Chlorhexidine. Some girls have very sensitive skin; therefore, after the tattoo, as soon as the effect of the painkiller wears off, they may experience discomfort. Don’t touch your face or scratch your eyebrows. Try to sleep on your back the night after your session. Do not wash your face until the crust is completely gone.
  • Second day. Do not be afraid that the next day after the procedure, the eyebrows will become much darker than the shade you intended. The fact is that during sleep, the accumulated lymph and dye come out. You will not get up at night and treat the wounds with an antiseptic, as well as remove the ichor, so the pigment becomes very dark. Continue to take care of your eyebrows in the same way as on the first day: during the day, wipe several times with a cotton pad with “Chlorhexidine”; do not touch with your hands and do not scratch; do not wash your face with running water, use micellar water to cleanse the skin, and do not touch the eyebrow area with your hands.

Try not to go outside: exposure to dust and ultraviolet rays slows healing. Cover the eyebrow area with large sunglasses if you need to go out. Cold and wind in winter also negatively affect the recovery process.

  • Third day. On the third day after tattooing, the healing process occurs as follows: ugly crusts appear on the skin, and the color of the arcs is uneven. The main thing is to avoid getting rid of these crusts on your own. They should fall behind naturally. If you pick them off, wounds form on the skin, turning into ugly scars. It can also cause the uneven color of the eyebrows, and they will heal much longer. Continue to follow all the recommendations that we described earlier.

  • From the fourth to the seventh day. What happens to permanent makeup at this time? The crusts gradually begin to come off, and the eyebrows itch terribly. In no case, do not give in to the temptation; take a cotton swab dipped in Chlorhexidine and lightly pressed it on the eyebrow. Irritated skin after this manipulation will immediately calm down. Do not use anything else for processing. In almost all girls, the skin stops flaking by the end of the first week.
  • Second week. In a week, you will begin to see the transformation of your eyebrows: a beautiful outline and the desired shade. But the final result can be admired only after a month. The pigment fully takes root, and the color stabilizes. As soon as the crusts disappear, you can wash your face.
  • Third-fourth weeks. The color of the eyebrows becomes the way you intended it. In areas that gradually heal, small gaps will appear, resulting from the convergence of crusts, the characteristics of the body, or due to the unprofessional work of the master. By the end of the month, the arches will look beautiful and natural.

It is impossible to name when the lips heal after tattooing. This process is different for everyone; it is influenced by many different factors, for example:

  • Depth of pigment injection under the skin. We are talking about how many millimeters deep the specialist introduced the pigment. The larger this value, the longer the healing process takes.
  • The quality of care during the rehabilitation period. It is possible to significantly increase the healing rate of the lips after tattooing if you follow the rules of care. The master must give you a memo where all the necessary actions will be prescribed. It is imperative to fulfill them. There is nothing extra in this reminder; everything is strict to the point. If this is not given due importance, then serious problems may arise in the future.
  • Used technique. This is a very important factor, although many do not consider it. The recovery rate depends not only on the millimeters that the pigment is injected under the skin but also on the amount of the substance itself. The complexity of the work is also of great importance. If a standard contour technique is used, then healing is faster, unlike, for example, watercolor. The fact is that the latter is done in several stages and captures a large area.

The answer to the question of how much and how the tattoo heals depends on all these factors. On average, this is about 20 days. But if you follow all the rules of care, and choose a simple procedure technique, then the period may be less (14 days). Otherwise, healing may take up to a month.

Be prepared for the fact that in the first week, crusts will form on the lips. Thus, the restoration of the skin occurs. The ichor is allocated, which must be wiped. Of course, no one does this at night and therefore crusts form. They usually appear on the 4th day. This layer protects damaged areas of the skin during the healing process.

In no case do not try to get rid of this protection yourself. An infection can get into the wounds, which then turns into trouble. The consequences can be different; for example, the color of the lips will be uneven, voids will form, and other organs of the body may suffer.

The crust heals on its own and falls off within four days. In general, the recovery process takes place in 7 days: in 4-5 days – a crust forms, six days – severe itching begins, which indicates that the healing process will be completed soon.

Try not to touch your lips because it is unknown exactly how long the protective layer will stay on them. As soon as it has formed, it is better to sleep on your back so that you do not touch your lips in a dream and do not tear off the crust. If some of it has fallen off ahead of time for a reason beyond your control, treat this place with an antiseptic. Now you have to carefully monitor so that infections and bacteria do not get into the wounds.

Eye tattoo healing

Only some people know how long an eye tattoo heals. Masters say that this happens on average in 2-3 weeks. Of course, everything here also depends on the body’s individual characteristics and compliance with the rules of care.

The most difficult period is the first five days. The skin in these areas is thin and just beginning to heal. After that, the full disclosure of the pigment occurs, and the tattoo becomes what it was intended to be.

How exactly the tattoo healing takes place depends on the technique of performing the work:

  • Interstitial tattoo. Everything is restored quite quickly since such a procedure minimally injures the skin. The pigment is injected into the area where there are no eyelashes. Healing occurs in the first few days.
  • Arrows (with or without shading). The primary healing process of the skin occurs in the initial five days.
  • Shadow imitation. Recovery will take 4-5 days. It should be noted that tattooing is performed here over the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe eyelid, and the paint is injected under the skin pointwise.

First day

As soon as the procedure is completed, you can see that the tattoo has a very bright and saturated shade. It is flat and precise in shape. The eyelids at this time are reddened and swollen.

Do not worry; this is a normal reaction of the body. Some areas may swell quite a bit. Lymphatic fluid is secreted from the skin. It may be a little more or a little less. This is how the skin reacts to injury.

The lymph must be wiped off so that the skin is dry. This is done with a cotton swab dipped in a solution of Chlorhexidine.

Second day

The next day, the arrows will become even more saturated, do not be alarmed. This is because the lymph secreted at night is not removed and dries up. On the second day, its release gradually stops. In this case, you still need to wipe the damaged areas with a solution of “Chlorhexidine.”

Puffiness can be removed with the help of cold lotions: we cool a metal object, for example, a spoon, wrap it in a towel, and apply it to the eyelids for 15 minutes.

Third day

At this stage, a crust forms. It is almost invisible and looks like a slight peeling. Lymph no longer appears swelling becomes much less. Please do not touch the crusts with your hands, and do not try to tear them off. Otherwise, some of the pigment may leave, the arrows will be uneven, and the resulting wounds will become vulnerable to the penetration of infections and bacteria.

To avoid affecting the crust, wear clothes without a narrow neck; bangs should be pinned up for this time, and hair should be collected so that the strands do not get into the eyes. At this stage, the arrows will become even brighter.

7th day of healing

At this time, the eyelid’s skin ceases to peel off, and the crust disappears. The eyelids acquire a natural color (redness disappears). The arrows get brighter. But this does not mean that the skin has completely recovered. The process continues. The norm is that redness and swelling disappear in up to 7 days. If this does not happen, contact the specialist who performed the tattoo or a doctor.

Second week

You can already wash your face. Wipe your eyelids with herbal solutions. But don’t take a hot bath or go to the sauna. Approximately 5-6 times a day, treat the damaged area with a solution of Chlorhexidine. This is how the tattoo healing process goes during this period.

Third week

The color is permanently fixed. It can be either darker or lighter. If there are any voids in the tattoo, they will immediately become noticeable. Only after three weeks can you admire the final result, and if necessary, a correction is carried out. Everything has already died, but it is still not recommended to use decorative cosmetics or sunbathe during this period.

So that the result does not disappoint you, the tattoo needs appropriate care. It is best if you stay at home during the week. If this is not possible, then be prepared for negative consequences because the desired result can be obtained only by following all the recommendations without exception. The process of initial healing of the tattoo lasts only seven days; then, the skin heals on its own.
