Meta Threads users can now stop their posts from showing on Instagram

Many Threads users now say they have the ability to opt out of having their posts shown on Instagram and Facebook. To prevent Threads posts from showing meta other platforms, tap the two lines at the top right of the Threads app > Privacy > Suggest posts on other apps — two switches allow users to turn off suggestions on Instagram or Facebook. Meta tends to roll out Threads features slowly, so if you don’t see the new toggles yet, give it time.

Instagram and Facebook have each received a “For You on Threads” carousel in recent months. Respond to user complaints, Topics said in October it was “listening to feedback” shortly before test the unsubscribe switch this is happening now.

The feature was clearly intended to boost engagement on Threads, as the platform seemed to collapse after his impressive first launch. But things are much better now. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a conference call last month that Threads now has nearly 100 million monthly users. This is still far from the “more than half a billion monthly users” that Elon Musk recently said that X has, but it’s a good sign for Threads, which has just over four months of life.
