Kremlin diet

The Kremlin diet, previously used only by cosmonauts, was considered classified for a long time. Later, the country’s leadership tried it on itself, after which the diet was called the Kremlin. The diet approved for her will appeal to people with traditional views on nutrition. Without restrictions, you can consume many products familiar to the body, focusing only on the feeling of fullness. The main emphasis is on reducing the number of carbohydrate foods consumed. The principles of the Kremlin diet

Weight on the Kremlin diet is corrected quite quickly: subject to all the rules; you can lose up to 4 kilograms per week and up to 15 kilograms per month.

The principles of the Kremlin diet are simple: each product is valued at a certain number of points according to the system, and the task of losing weight is to score a sufficient number of points per day without exceeding the norm. Due to the sharp restriction of carbohydrates, the body enters a phase of energy starvation and then adapts peculiarly to a change in nutrition. Instead of carbohydrates, energy begins to be obtained from body fat, and as a result, body weight decreases.

For simplicity, the diet is divided into four independent phases (stages): 

  1. Induction. During the first two weeks, no more than 20 g of carbohydrates are allowed per day. To lose weight, you need to score at most 20 points (points). 
  2. Active weight loss. The phase lasts 1.5 to 2 full months if weight loss goes according to plan. On each week of the stage, five additional points are added to the daily diet. The phase ends when the total number of points for the day reaches 40. 
  3. Expansion of the dietary menu. Every week, 10 points are added to the daily diet until the total number of points consumed per day reaches 60. Usually, this period takes 2-2.5 months for those who lose weight. 
  4. Consolidation of the result. You can return to normal nutrition (what was practiced before switching to the Kremlin diet). However, you will have to follow the restriction of carbohydrates all your life so that the weight does not return to critical levels. 

“Kremlin” is practiced by many as a temporary solution to the problem with body weight, then the duration of the stages is reduced. It is possible to schedule a diet for 10 or 14 days a week. However, reducing your carbohydrate intake for a short time will also lead to short-term results. 

Features of the Kremlin diet

The peculiarities of nutrition according to the Kremlin diet include the following: 

  • Food restriction will be healthy – many of the usual dishes prohibited in other systems are allowed in the “kremlin”; 
  • Only the first one can become a difficult stage for losing weight, not because of the constant feeling of hunger but because of the forced adjustment of the diet; 
  • Losing weight will need to constantly monitor the points of products, referring to the lists of their “values”; you get used to it not immediately; 
  • At first, it may seem that the amount of food has decreased. However, points (points) on the Kremlin diet do not equal the number of calories consumed but conditionally show the saturation of a particular product with carbohydrates. 

And, like any other diet, the Kremlin one requires at least minimal physical activity – so the result of weight loss will be faster. 

It is important to understand that this type of food will be to your taste and not suitable for everyone; therefore, before switching to the “Kremlin,” you should familiarize yourself with the pros and cons of the diet. 

The benefits of the Kremlin diet

The benefit of the Kremlin diet lies in the stable shedding of excess weight. Even those who have been in a vicious circle of restrictions, overeating, and breakdowns for years can lose excess weight. Simple scoring for the day. Compared to the annoying calculation of the weight of products and each calorie consumed, evaluating what you eat daily on the Kremlin diet is quite simple. 

Metabolism adjustment. Contrary to popular belief, the restoration of metabolism is not only a return to healthy body weight but also an improvement in well-being, a decrease in the activity of sweat glands, a solution to problems with insomnia, an increase in libido, and much more. 

Variety of food ingredients. On the table, losing weight will have a lot of familiar products, and it will not be necessary to spend a lot of time on the “invention” of new culinary masterpieces. 

Dulling the feeling of hunger. Hunger arises from a clear lack of certain substances in the body. And on the “Kremlin,” the gastrointestinal tract system works in the usual mode; therefore, losing weight is not aware of any changes in the feeling of satiety. 

Invigoration and burst of energy. The drowsiness that carbohydrate-rich foods lead to goes away, so a person feels alert and full of energy on a diet. 

The usual cost of a grocery basket. The system does not involve the use of products exotic for our latitudes, so you do not have to spend more on food than usual. 

Some alcoholic beverages may be consumed. The Kremlin diet is the only one that does not put alcohol under a complete ban. However, it is important to remember that all alcohol-containing drinks are harmful to the human body, and you should use them only if the person who is losing weight is confident in his health. 

Like any other diet, the Kremlin one has several disadvantages and may not be suitable for individual weight loss with peculiar habits. 

Disadvantages of the Kremlin diet

The Kremlin diet for weight loss is often compared to the keto diet, where carbohydrates are completely excluded. And although it passes much easier, there are still some disadvantages: 

Overeating risk. Due to the reduction in carbohydrates and the availability of fats, it is easy to break loose, exceeding the daily allowance at the expense of even permitted products. In this case, weight loss slows down. 

Gradual increase in carbohydrates in the diet. The body never manages to completely wean itself from carbohydrate foods since, starting from the second phase, their number is constantly increasing. Hence – possible breakdowns in the “forbidden” like flour and sweets. 

Increased load on the excretory system. The human body is not adapted to high protein content, so its processing takes a long time, and the liver and kidneys work at their maximum “power.” 

If the disadvantages of the diet do not frighten the person who is losing weight, you can begin to study suitable and inappropriate food products for this system. 

Allowed and prohibited foods on the Kremlin diet

During the Kremlin diet, the following foods are allowed: 

  • Fish and seafood; 
  • all types of lean meat; 
  • high-quality sausages and sausages (strictly without soy and other additives); 
  • eggs; 
  • cheese (mainly cottage cheese and hard varieties); 
  • unsweetened fruits (apples, pears, grapefruits, pineapple, kiwi ); 
  • low-carb vegetables and greens.

As for alcohol, only strong and unsweetened drinks are allowed in the most limited quantities (symbolically only “on major holidays”). 

Of course, when switching to the Kremlin diet, you will have to give up a large number of prohibited foods: 

  • sugar; 
  • bread and flour products; 
  • sweets; 
  • cereals.

The Kremlin diet for weight loss is contraindicated if a person who wants to lose weight has the following features: 

  • pregnancy or breastfeeding stage; 
  • disorders in the work of the kidneys and liver; 
  • postoperative recovery period; 
  • the unstable activity of the gastrointestinal tract; 
  • incorrect functioning of the endocrine system (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, etc.); 
  • any pathology in the cardiovascular system; 
  • diabetes mellitus of any type; 
  • lack of vitamins. 

By the way, before switching to a nutrition system, a blood test should be done to monitor the body’s current state. In the event of a lack of any of the vitamins, pharmaceutical preparations should be added to the daily diet to replenish the deficiency.

Recipes from the menu of the Kremlin diet 

The Kremlin diet is characterized by simplicity in cooking. Here are a few recipes:

Take 150 g of chicken meat, rinse, and boil over low heat until tender. While the chicken is cooking, in a ceramic-coated pan, fry the onion rings and half the carrots and cut them into small cubes. When the onion is covered with a golden crust, add 50 g of zucchini cut into slices to the fry, fry everything together for another 5 minutes, simmer the fire, add 0.5 teaspoons of olive oil, mix and add the fried vegetables to the pan with chicken and broth. Bring the soup to readiness over low heat for no more than 15 minutes. At the end of cooking, add spices and a pinch of salt to the chicken soup without potatoes, and let it stand under the lid.

We put a saucepan of water on a slow fire; when the first bubbles appear, add 0.5 teaspoons of olive oil. While the pan is heating, cut the mushrooms (champignons, chanterelles, oyster mushrooms, or any others) into thin slices, and fry without oil in a pan along with 0.5 onions and 100 g of finely chopped white cabbage. Roasting is considered ready when the mushrooms are reduced in size by about half. Add the roast to boiling water in a saucepan, reduce the heat, and cover with a lid. After 5 minutes, add 0.5 teaspoons of salt and a pinch of any seasoning. Mushroom soup without potatoes is ready!

We put a saucepan of water on a slow fire; when the first bubbles appear, add 0.5 teaspoons of olive oil. While the pan is heating, chop the white cabbage, and sauté half the head of the onion with two cloves of garlic in the pan. Add the frying to the oil broth, mix well, and reduce the heat. Cut into rings five ​​olives or pitted olives, add to the soup, season it with spices and a pinch of salt, and cover the saucepan with a lid. Grate 0.5 medium head of beets on a coarse grater, add to the soup, bring it to readiness for another 10 minutes, remove from heat, and let it brew for 15 minutes – the vegetarian borscht is ready.


The Kremlin diet makes it possible to lose weight, and quite easily. It is important to switch to diet food correctly, and at first, to strictly maintain discipline and not break into forbidden foods.
