How to remove a TikTok filter

The longer TikTok stays, the more features are added to it. Filters aren’t new, though, so we should be able to do a lot of things with them, right? Can we remove them from our videos?

TikTok is a bit like Marmite: you love it or you hate it. Personally, I lean towards the latter but I will be fair in the sense that I do not use it. I downloaded it to follow and support a few friends.

I’m sure if I looked around a bit I’d discover something that really interests me, but I prefer to avoid challenges and viral grumbles at all costs.

Can I remove a filter from my TikTok

When it comes to TikTok, you can only remove filters from your draft videos. If you have already posted the video, it is too late: you will have to delete it and re-upload it without the filters.

If you haven’t published a video yet and it’s waiting in your drafts, it’s very easy to remove any filters that you’ve changed your mind about using. We’ll tell you how to do this below.

Again, you can only remove a filter from your draft TikTok videos. If you’ve already posted it, it’s too late to do so.

Here’s how to remove a filter from your content draft:

  1. Open the TikTok app on your mobile device.
  2. Make sure you are logged in to the correct account.
  3. Click on the 6 short black lines to access your videos. Your draft videos will appear first in the top left.
  4. Tap the video you want to remove a filter from.
  5. Tap the “Effects” symbol on the right side of the screen – not the “Filters” symbol.
  6. Tap the back arrow at the top right of the screen. This will undo any effects applied to the draft video.
  7. Tap “Save” to apply these changes.
  8. Now, tap Filters on the right side of the page.
  9. Tap “Cancel,” then tap “Next” to save your changes.
  10. Finally, tap “Publish” to publish the video as is, or “Drafts” to return to your draft videos.

Can you remove a filter from someone else’s TikTok video?

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to remove a filter from a video that someone else posted on TikTok. Once a video has been published, the effects become a permanent part of the content.

Additionally, if your intentions are unethical, your actions could be considered illegal if you removed certain filters and effects from certain videos. There’s all kinds of content on TikTok, after all!
