10 Best Early Black Friday Mattress Deals (2023): Hybrid, Organic, Innerspring
If you’ve ever researched mattresses, you may have noticed that they tend to be on sale a lot. Make no mistake, this is usually a tricky marketing tactic and Black Friday mattress deals are no exception. Prices are increased exorbitantly in early November, then lowered to a “sale” price for the shopping holidays. You see the huge discount and think it’s a good time to buy. Sometimes, however, prices drop lower than this fake deal, and right now, 11 of our favorites are truly discounted. Prices below are for queen sizes unless otherwise noted.
We track prices throughout the year so we know how good the sale prices are, but we’ve added a few new mattresses that we haven’t been able to track as closely yet. Some of these prices could be reduced even further, and more of our favorites will likely also get some good discounts in the run-up to Black Friday. This price is in line with other sales we’ve been tracking, and we haven’t seen it come down yet. The medium-firm feel is relaxing for all sleep positions, but our tester loved it for stomach sleeping. We tried the Midnight Luxe, but there is a some other versions in the Luxe family for different firmness levels and sleeping positions.
Coded BF25 adds two pillows to your order. We haven’t been following the Elite as long as the Luxe, but that’s the cheapest price we saw over Labor Day. Even on sale, this is the most expensive mattress we recommend. It has nine layers of foam compared to the Luxe’s six and is 16 inches thick. It comes in two boxes and zips closed to form a very thick bed. You will need a bedframe with slats. Like Luxury, there is various options intended for different sleeping positions and firmness levels. We tried the softest one, which lulled us to sleep.

The Bear Elite is 14 inches thick and firmer than most mattresses aimed at side sleepers, but it’s comfortable, with a layer of coils of varying stiffness that allow your hips to sink in while supporting your side . The Elite occasionally hits its $2,305 price point, but it’s regularly $1,614 or less on Amazon – that was $126 less than that sale price in September, so you might want to see if it goes back down .

This is another mattress we haven’t followed for as long, but it almost always seems to be $2,599, rather than its list price of $3,249. The Birch Luxe Natural is an improved organic bed. It is GOTS certified, using natural latex without polyurethane-based foams. It’s medium-firm with structured support for different sleeping positions, and the cushioned top uses a layer of cashmere blend to help regulate temperature.
We used to recommend Nectar’s Classic Memory Foam Mattress, and while it’s still a good bed, this Premier is an ideal pressure-relieving hybrid. It has an extra layer of foam and is softer than the original so you can slowly sink into this bed while still being supported. If you are purchasing directly from the Nectar site, be sure to click on hybrid before adding it to your cart; it is by default made of foam. It’s better if you sleep only on your side. If you fail, consider another of our picks, especially the Bear Elite above.
You don’t need a code for Amazon, but at other retailers use VETERAN30. The board is, as its name suggests, firm. As if you were sleeping on parquet floors. You can flip it over to sleep on the two inches of comfortable foam, but if you’re intrigued by a bed called Plank, you probably won’t want to do that. It took a few days to fully inflate it, so you might think it’s too soft at first; we found it considerably firmed up. However, the edge support is lacking.
This is a very inexpensive new addition to our guide. It’s been around $219 since May and just passed $300. Amazon at the beginning of November. We hope it comes back down, but $52 off an already inexpensive bed isn’t bad, plus it’s made without formaldehyde or flame retardants. It’s super soft and we slept comfortably, but we probably wouldn’t want to sleep on it every night. It is best reserved for children or guest rooms.
You can select many customizations for this mattress, but we tested the ultimate level of support with a plush pillow top. The Perfect Sleeper is an innerspring mattress, and it doesn’t come fully rolled, so you’ll need to schedule delivery. It’s soft and supportive, and these coils are arranged in three firmness zones so side and back sleepers will find comfort.

If you want your kids to sleep on a hybrid mattress made from certified organic cotton, wool, and latex, get them the Kiwi. Its full size is less expensive than many of our favorite picks, but it’s still comfortably firm. WIRED writer Scott Gilbertson says his kids think it’s the most comfortable bed they’ve ever slept on.

It has held up well after a year, I find it comfortable, but it is very soft. My husband and I agree that it’s better suited for sleeping on my back than the flipping I tend to do all night.
